Members of the USA district came together from across the country (and even beyond) to enjoy a deepening appreciation of our fellowship.

Delegates to the District Assembly met in Paoli, PA for 3 days at the end of July to discuss and approve the themes that will drive our next 4 years as a district: Commit, Reinvigorate and Grow.

Fr. Anthony Ciorra was re-elected as District Director. The delegates also elected members of the district council: Fr. Frank Berna (Asst. Director), Fr. Michael Cronin, Fr. Leo Patalinghug, and Eileen and Paul Lang.

Immediately following the Assembly, over 80 members of the USA District came together for our annual Congress in a spirit of great joy and celebration.

Almost 55 members came together in Paoli, PA on March 2nd for our plenary gathering. The Daylesford Abbey Spirituality Center was welcoming in spite of the March storm and a loss of power. And while generator power allowed us to enjoy warm rooms and hot meals, it did not help our scheduled speaker's travel plans. Sr. Sharon Holland was good enough to share her notes so that several members could deliver talks on different aspects of her topic: A Spirituality for the Church and the World in the 21st Century. We were all grateful to Tony Ciorra, Eileen & Paul Lang, Frank Berna and John O’Neill for stepping in and delivering reflections on Gaudium et Spes, The Joy of the Gospel, Laudato Si and A Spirituality for Voluntas Dei. As always, the gathering was a welcome chance to see friends and share our commitment to the values of the Institute.

We were excited to have a record number of attendees (well over 40) at our retreat (August 1-3) this year. Sr. Madonna SFP challenged us to "Be Jesus in a Wounded World", using stories and songs to help us reflect on forgiveness, peacemaking, relationships, and love of ALL. Alex celebrated his first Mass with his Voluntas family to end the retreat.

Our Congress, with the theme: "Preparing for the 2018 USA Assembly," featured talks by Bishop Donald Trautman and Brother Loughlan Sofield along with fellowship, worship, and of course food, friends and fun.  We remembered long-time member Bob Boris who died this year, welcomed 10 fresh faces to their first summer Congress, celebrated many in the USA and our Ethiopian sector who made steps in their formation journey, and relished in the life-giving spirit present in our gathering.
