As the name implies, the Voluntas Dei Institute is a group of Catholic Christians who support one another in discerning God's will and desire for us in our everyday lives. We encourage one another in the very concrete aspects or our spirituality to carry out God's plan for us each day.

The Voluntas Dei Institute unites members under a common ideal whose aim is to know the will of God, cling to it, love it, and carry it out.

Our Institute includes Catholic priests, celibate laymen, married couples, and single women and men who promise to follow the spirituality of the Institute.

Together we form one family who support one another in our commitment to live the will of God in the present moment.

Our district council (L-R): Steven Orth, Fr. Frank Berna, Fr. Gregory McGivern, Fr. James Burns, Eileen & Paul Lang

Where We Are

Voluntas Dei Institute is an international secular institute, present in over ten countries. The USA District of the Institute has teams across the United States and an online team. A few select teams and the Ethiopian sector have been  assigned by the Institute Director to be under the governance of the USA District.

Team Life

Guided by a Team Facilitator, members meet regularly in small groups to pray together, celebrate together, share the Word of God, and enrich one another with their human, Christian, and apostolic experiences.

The team is the privileged place for forming, helping, forgiving, and loving one another. The quality of team life assures the Institute its dynamic vitality.

“In the team I visualize the family laboratory where one is formed. In a family, we love, we fight amongst ourselves and tolerate one another: we don't always agree with one another, we accuse and excuse one another, we forgive one another, there isn't any talk of resigning from the family, we form one another, we learn to help one another, to share, to forget oneself, to welcome and respect one another.”
[Fr. Louis Marie Parent]

Union with the Church

The Institute invites her members to become totally available to the Church for any apostolic work she may require anywhere in any country.

The Institute desires to form a living, dynamic Christian cell in the Church of Jesus Christ.
